Transmed started its operation in the United Arab Emirates in 1975. Since then, and following the formation of the federation, the UAE has been going through a period of political stability and strong economic prosperity. Throughout this period, the country in general and Dubai in particular embarked on a long-term plan to modernize the infrastructure, liberalize the economy and to attract international business and tourism.

This rapid modernization of the country was paralleled by an accelerated development of the trade with the introduction of international retail chains and the expansion of few local chains. At the same time, the traditional trade channels of groceries and wholesalers continued to retain a sizable share of the market.

This created a challenge for Transmed. As we developed the skills and tools required to work successfully and effectively with the modern trade, we had to maintain and expand our extensive direct distribution to all the trade channels including hypermarkets, coops, supermarket chains, self service stores, groceries, general and specialized wholesalers, petrol stations, hospitals, pharmacies, cinemas, hotels, clubs, recreational centres, schools and catering companies. Today we are proud to be the largest FMCG Distributor in the UAE.

Recognizing the growing importance of the HORECA channel, we also set-up a dedicated Foodservice, and Café et Thé units to service the channel with a specialized product range.

Also and in order to maintain high service levels to our customers while remaining cost effective, we invested heavily in our warehousing, logistics and information systems. We operate warehousing facilities in all Emirates handling dry, chilled and frozen products with the main facilities located in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

In order to be able to service some of our regional customers, we have also a distribution center and logistics operation in Jebel Ali Free Zone.
